TAKE HOME FOLDERS: Your child has a St. John’s School Take Home Folder . Please check it every day so that you are aware of daily homework and classroom happenings. Communication to and from school should be kept in the Take Home Folder and brought to and from school daily.
HOMEWORK LOG: Beginning this week, you will find a Homework Log inside your child’s Take Home Folder. This is a schedule of weekly activities and each day’s homework. This needs to be signed every day and returned to school in the Take Home Folder. If your child has not completed his/her homework, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN the Homework Log. (Only when the homework has been completed, should you sign in the space provided under the corresponding day.) At the end of the week, students who have their Homework Log signed and returned on time will be rewarded for their responsibility.
CLASSROOM CLIMATE: HAPPY NEST Behavior!! Together as a class we will discuss what a positive learning environment looks like as well as how each of our actions directly impacts each other’s learning and the environment of the entire class. Together we will develop classroom rules that usually look something like this: -Listen carefully. -Follow directions. -Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working. -Show respect to others. Be kind with your words and actions. -Show respect to school and personal property. -Work and play safely.
There is a chart in our classroom with a clothespin attached showing each child’s name. Each day, your child begins with the clothespin on the “Ready to Learn”. Each child has an opportunity to move the clothespin up or down ( Up = At the end of each day, all students who were “Ready to Learn” or above will receive .
VOLUNTEERS: There are many opportunities to volunteer in the classroom or at home for the classroom. I love to have volunteers and thank you ahead of time if you are able to help. In my classroom, parent volunteer roles can take on a variety of looks. You can provide support if a child needs extra help, be extra listening ears for students to practice oral reading, assist the teacher in copying, cutting, or any other classroom help needed. Please contact me if you would like to volunteer.
GIVING TREE: There is a giving tree on our board with items listed that are needed in the classroom. Feel free to pick an item from the tree if you would like to donate something to our classroom.. There is also a page on this website that is updated whenever the needs arise. Please look for the Giving Tree page for a list of items that we always need.
